It’s like driving a car.

The Process is Part of the Purpose – Anonymous

You want to lose the weight quickly, get healthy, have a perfect morning routine, exercise 4 days a week, run a 5k, and learn to play the guitar and….you want to do it yesterday. Well since when is learning new things easy and quick?

Remember what it was like to learn to drive a car? Check out the “Here’s What I Know” video on this topic that I posted in my Facebook Group called “WholeLifeHub”.

(You can join my FREE online health community for weekly videos, inspiration, motivation, ideas, and more. It’s all intended to give you a safe, supportive place to find community and help along your path towards better health and well-being!)

What are the healthy habits or goals you’re striving for but struggling with?

“I don’t like to cook.”

“I don’t eat vegetables and I don’t exercise.”

“I don’t have time to food prep or meal plan.”

“I eat healthy all day and then blow it with cravings at night.”

“I’m so stressed out with ______________.”

“I wake up exhausted and low energy most days.”

How do you think healthy food is going to get into your fridge? How will it get into your body? How do you think you’re going to get really good at whipping up a health meal in 30 minutes if you’re not willing to practice?

You know how to whip through the drive-through. You know how to rummage through your pantry to find some buried junk in there. You know how to binge watch your favorite streaming show and ignore the gym or walk outside. You’re really good at scrolling social media deep into the evening hours and end up sleep-deprived the next day. That’s really easy. That’s automated. I know cuz I know how too.

You know how to do those things, and your brain tries to get you to do them, because you’ve done them over and over and over again. You don’t have to think about it. It’s quick and easy. It’s habit.

But I promise you, the healthy habits that you want will get easier. They can also become automated. They become part of who you are…a new normal. But you have to practice. And throughout that process you learn more about who you are becoming. You start to take on new values and principles. You appreciate life in a new way. Suddenly you find you have more confidence in your skills and your ability to accomplish the things you want. You’re learning new things! It becomes fun, just like driving. At first it’s terrifying but once you get the hang of it, it’s so fun and freeing!

You become who you are going to become during the process. You cannot change without going through the fire and being refined. There’s no quick easy way. It’s not just about the consistency of the habits. It’s about coming out on the other side a changed person. Someone who’s built value and gratitude in the process so that they never have to go back to who they were before.

Every time I exercise, or meditate, or every time I cook a heathy meal and sit down feeling proud of myself, there’s a new part of me coming out. There’s this new strength of values and character. I feel healthy and happy. I am physically strong and energetic. I have a good sleep routine, I am learning to manage my stress, I daily focus on my spiritual life, and I learn something new every day. My body moves the way I want it to….those are my rewards. I am becoming that person as I practice each step of the process to realize my purpose and I can help you realize your purpose too!

Change takes time. Don’t try to skip it. Don’t try to jump ahead. The longer you’ve been in the process of practicing poor habits, the longer it takes to untangle them and switch them out for better ones. Be patient with yourself. The fact that you’re here reading this blog tells me you’re ready.

My Mask.

My goal is to live a healthy, whole life, paying attention to my whole life, for my whole life.

But I haven’t always been this way. I was unhealthy, stuck in a rut with a fixed mindset, and hiding behind shame, self-doubt, and the complacency of it all. I finally decided to show up for my life. I did the work. And now I know some stuff that I want to share with you. That’s what this blog is all about.

I want to give you everything I know. Everything I’ve learned. I want to show you the truth behind nutrition, health, fitness, well-being (it’s so basic it’s almost funny in that ironic, painful sort of way) and inspire you to step into the life you were created to live. I want to serve you (I’ll do the work, the research, the writing) and all you need to do is show up here, read it, learn it, and apply it to your life so you can serve others too. Deal?

Because here’s the thing: I need you. The world needs YOU. We need you to show up! You have gifts, talents, life experiences, wisdom, humor, love, kindness, and worth that I believe our creator designed specifically with you in mind to live a fully, unabashedly whole life.

When you harbor sickness, weakness, exhaustion, shame, doubt, fear, sorrow, or anger you hide behind a mask that is not you and was never intended for you to wear. This mask keeps you from us. It steals your peace and confidence. Your joy. Your faith. Without which you cannot, will not, and do not serve others. I’ve seen it.

That was me.

I hid behind a mask which means I did not live into my fullest potential. I certainly didn’t put myself out there. I was too afraid to love others and I was embarrassed that I was not living the life I felt called to live. I was not living into my potential and I knew it. I knew it the same way you know it now.

We have this authentic, best version of self within us and it’s always trying to manifest. When we ignore it and live inauthentically it hurts. It’s like an offense to self that creates this feedback loop of negative feelings and lack of motivation. We know when we aren’t living out our values and beliefs, dreams and hopes, because we feel like we’re on the hamster wheel from hell. Around and around and around.

It’s time for change. You know it and I know it.

It’s time to step off (or jump off) the hamster wheel and start becoming the person you really want to be. It’s not easy, I know. Nothing worth anything ever is. So decide right now to start with that first, tiny step forward. If you’ll let me, I’d love to be part of your journey to a WholeLife
